Buffalo, N.Y. – A federal jury has found David Allen Vickers, 50, of Stanley, NY, guilty on all counts of an Indictment charging him with transportation of minors with intent to have sex. This grim revelation came from U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr., who deemed Vickers one of the area’s most prolific and dangerous abusers.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorneys Aaron J. Mango and Elizabeth R. Moellering, Vickers, an over-the-road truck driver, transported two minors across state lines, including Canada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, between 1999 and 2007. The abuse was facilitated during his deliveries.
Additional evidence revealed that Vickers had been abusing children since 1983, employing extensive psychological manipulation known as “grooming” to gain their trust. He operated a bed and breakfast, “Paradise on the Lake,” using it as a venue for his predatory behavior.
The defendant’s elaborate facade was so convincing that a Family Court Judge had once assigned one of the victims to Vickers’ custody. Sentencing is scheduled for June 24, 2015, with penalties including life imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, or both.
This conviction is the result of an extensive investigation led by Brian P. Boetig and the Batavia City Police Department under Chief Shawn Heubusch. The trial was presided over by United States District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara.
