Pittsburgh Man Sentenced to 6 Years for Heroin Trafficking

A 22-year-old Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to 72 months in federal prison for committing heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine trafficking and firearm crimes, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today.

Malik Martinez was sentenced by United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab. Judge Schwab also sentenced Martinez to serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.

Martinez was on bond in Pennsylvania state court for a prior drug trafficking crime when he committed the heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine trafficking and firearm crimes that led to his federal indictment, convictions, and sentence.

The investigation leading to Martinez’s convictions and sentence was conducted by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the government’s violent crime reduction efforts. PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.

The government’s violent crime reduction efforts through PSN focus enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partner with locally based prevention and reentry programs for lasting reductions in crime.
