PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Marques Coffey, 21, a resident of Pittsburgh, has been handed down a severe sentence for his involvement in the lucrative world of fentanyl trafficking. Senior United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed a sentence of 63 months imprisonment followed by five years of federal supervised release on August 5, 2025.
Coffey was convicted of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The evidence against him included a Glock firearm equipped with a switch or automatic conversion kit, recovered alongside a quantity of the deadly substance during an investigation by law enforcement.
On March 4, 2023, Coffey was caught with the fentanyl and firearm while wearing a satchel containing the contraband. The case against him was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey, representing the government in this matter.
The investigation leading to Coffey’s conviction was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Bellevue Borough Police Department. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended these agencies for their work in bringing justice to the community and ensuring the safety of citizens.
Coffey’s sentencing marks another significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking in Pennsylvania. It serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences faced by those who engage in such dangerous activities.
