Local Man Heads to Prison for Felony Ammunition Charge
A 32-year-old Pojoaque resident, Nicholas Mondragon, was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition.
On February 25, 2014, Mondragon purchased a box of ammunition in Las Vegas, New Mexico, despite knowing he was prohibited from doing so.
Mondragon’s past convictions include disposing of stolen property, aggravated assault against a household member, attempt to commit a felony, theft of a rental property, and theft of government property.
The Albuquerque office of the FBI investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney William J. Pflugrath handled the prosecution.
Mondragon pleaded guilty to the felony information on July 17, 2014. He will be on supervised release for three years after completing his prison sentence.
