Porcupine Man Sentenced for Abusive Sexual Contact

A 21-year-old man from Porcupine, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 96 months in custody for his role in an abusive sexual contact case.

Jaron Thunder Hawk was convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact after a federal grand jury indicted him on three charges of Aggravated Sexual Abuse on January 22, 2014. He later pleaded guilty to the charge on April 3, 2014.

According to the investigation, Thunder Hawk had abusive sexual contact with young female relatives between January and August 2013 near Porcupine.

Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court, handed down the sentence on July 29, 2014. As part of the sentence, Thunder Hawk was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and will serve six years of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn N. Rich prosecuting the case. Thunder Hawk was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
