Qasim Khan, Tax Evasion, Wisconsin 2023

A Milwaukee businessman has pleaded guilty to a multi-year tax scheme that left the IRS with a staggering loss of $127,306.

Qasim Khan, the owner of Global Focus Partners LLC, a consulting firm that brokered deals between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and US businesses, willfully filed a false tax return for the years 2015 to 2017.

According to court documents, Khan failed to report over $350,000 in payments received from foreign companies in the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His scheme aimed to conceal his income from U.S.-based businesses, but ultimately landed him in hot water with the IRS.

Khan’s guilty plea comes as a result of a federal investigation led by the IRS-Criminal Investigation division. His sentencing is scheduled for August 15, 2023, and he faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division made the announcement, highlighting the severity of Khan’s crimes.

Khan’s actions not only cheated the system but also put him at risk of losing his freedom. His case serves as a reminder that tax evasion is a serious offense with severe consequences.

A federal district court judge will determine Khan’s sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Assistant Chief Matthew J. Kluge and Trial Attorney Amanda R. Scott of the Justice Department’s Tax Division are prosecuting the case.
