Rachele Ostrowe Charged in $1,000 Mail Contract Scam
A former postal contractor from Pennsylvania has been charged with stealing over $1,000 in government funds.
Rachele Ostrowe, 39, of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, was indicted by a federal grand jury for theft of Government funds, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Between November 2017 and April 2019, Ostrowe allegedly fraudulently claimed mileage payments for extra trips to deliver mail and parcels to which she knew she was not entitled, the indictment alleges.
The United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General is investigating the case, and Assistant United States Attorney Sean A. Camoni is prosecuting.
Ostrowe faces a maximum penalty of 10 years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine, according to the indictment.
The case is ongoing, and a court date has not been set. Ostrowe is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The indictment is just the first step in this case, and it will be up to a judge to determine the outcome.
