A Pittsburgh man has admitted to his role in a heroin and fentanyl distribution ring that operated in Harrison County and elsewhere in West Virginia.
According to Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard, Raimonte Gordon Gaston, also known as ‘Boog,’ ‘Barkley Boo,’ ‘Barkley,’ and ‘Ray,’ pleaded guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and to Possess with the Intent to Distribute Heroin and Fentanyl.
Gaston, 28, admitted to working with another individual to distribute the deadly substances from September 2018 to January 2019.
The defendant faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000 under federal sentencing guidelines.
The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, according to authorities.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Greater Harrison Drug Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department investigated the matter.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the proceedings.
Gaston’s plea comes as part of an ongoing effort to combat the opioid epidemic in West Virginia and across the nation.
