HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In a harsh blow to Huntington’s fight against narcotics, Frederick Coleman, a 32-year-old resident of the city, has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for his involvement in a federal drug crime.
Coleman was sentenced today by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers for his role in possessing heroin with intent to distribute. The crime was revealed on February 13, 2020, after law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Huntington.
During the search, officers recovered approximately 2.31 grams of heroin and approximately 20.99 grams of cocaine from a bedroom in the residence. Coleman confessed to possessing the heroin and intending to distribute it.
Assistant United States Attorney Nick Miller handled the prosecution in this case. Miller commended the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, stating that their diligence played a crucial role in securing the conviction.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) worked in tandem with the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force to execute the search warrant and bring Coleman to justice.
