HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – A Huntington man was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Harold Arthur Thompson, 30, was found guilty of attempting to conceal a plastic bag containing 2.9 grams of methamphetamine and 2.5 grams of heroin during a traffic stop on September 14, 2019, by a Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Thompson admitted to possessing the heroin and methamphetamine, stating they were packaged in individual plastic bags for sale. He also admitted to possessing digital scales and packaging materials.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Police conducted the investigation that led to Thompson’s sentencing.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, which includes 24 months in federal prison for Thompson.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement, stating that Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Cremeans handled the prosecution.
