Mark Andrew Yatulchik, Methamphetamine Distribution and Unlawful Possession of Firearm, West Virginia 2023

U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced that Mark Andrew Yatulchik, a 50-year-old man from Shinnston, West Virginia, has admitted to drug and firearms charges.

Yatulchik, also known as “Utah,” pleaded guilty this week to one count of “Conspiracy to Distribute More Than Fifty Grams or More of Methamphetamine” and one count of “Unlawful Possession of Firearm as Felon.”

According to the charges, Yatulchik worked with others to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine from February 2017 to June 2018 in Harrison County and elsewhere.

In addition to the methamphetamine charges, Yatulchik also admitted to having two shotguns in May 2018 in Harrison County. As a convicted felon, Yatulchik is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Yatulchik faces not less than five and up to 40 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $5,000,000 for the drug count. He also faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the firearms count.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Cogar is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.
