Ralph Dale Shepherd, Child Pornography, California 2014

A 58-year-old Bakersfield man has been sentenced to 12 years and 7 months in prison for possession of child pornography.

Ralph Dale Shepherd was found to have possessed between 300 and 600 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his cellphone.

The images also included depictions of sadistic, masochistic, and other violent acts, as well as pre-pubescent minors.

The case was the product of an investigation by the Bakersfield Office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Assistant United States Attorney Brian W. Enos prosecuted the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
