United States Attorney Clint Johnson today dropped a bombshell with the announcement of the July Federal Grand Jury 2025-A Indictments. Kennedy Antonio Ramirez Acosta, a 39-year-old Mexican national, has been hit with serious charges for his alleged role in the fentanyl trade.
The 25-CR-239 indictment against Ramirez Acosta spells out that he is charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, a dangerous substance that has been at the forefront of America’s drug crisis. The DEA Tulsa Resident Office, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas Field Office, and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office have all had their hands full in this investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tyson McCoy will be leading the prosecution against Ramirez Acosta. The defendant now faces a court of law where he must prove his innocence beyond a reasonable doubt—a tall order when dealing with federal drug charges.
But Ramirez Acosta is not alone in the dock. Ventura Rivera Arteaga and Ruben Amadow Meza Medina, both Mexican nationals, have been indicted for their part in a broader conspiracy involving fentanyl distribution. They are charged with drug conspiracy, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, unlawful reentry of a removed alien, and maintaining a drug-involved premise. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mandy Mackenzie will be prosecuting this case, which has the Tulsa Police Department and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas Field Office as investigative agencies.
Elijah Lee Chandler Jr., 36, from Tulsa, is another name on the list of the July Federal Grand Jury Indictments. He is charged with attempted possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, actual possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and maintaining a drug-involved premise. This investigation has involved the DEA, Tulsa Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney David Nasar as the prosecutor.
The grimy details do not end there. Douglas Eugene Chaney, 50, of Tulsa, faces charges for failing to register as a sex offender, a requirement he knowingly ignored from April to May 2025. The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office and the Tulsa Police Department are handling this case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Michele Hulgaard serving as the prosecutor.
