MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has handed down a severe sentence to Jason Edward Lewis, 48, of Kenefic. Lewis was sentenced to 72 months in prison for his heinous crime of Assault with Intent to Commit Murder in Indian Country.
The case stems from an investigation spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office. On July 10, 2024, a harrowing incident unfolded at a Kenefic residence when Lewis rammed his vehicle into the dwelling, shooting shots inside. The audacity of this attack led to law enforcement swiftly responding to a 911 call, resulting in a high-speed pursuit and Lewis’ eventual apprehension.
According to investigators, Lewis pleaded guilty to the charge on February 11, 2025. The hearing was presided over by the Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Lewis will be transported to a federal prison facility by the U.S. Marshals Service to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
The sentencing reflects the gravity of the offense and sends a stern message about the consequences of such violent acts in Indian Country. Assistant U.S. Attorneys T. Cameron McEwen and Jonathan E.
