Pittsburgh Felon Charged with Fentanyl and Gun Crimes
PITTSBURGH – Randale Chapman, a 33-year-old Pittsburgh resident, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for fentanyl, methamphetamine, and methylenedioxyamphetamine trafficking and firearm crimes.
According to the indictment, Chapman is charged with possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, and methylenedioxyamphetamine on April 30, 2020, and with possessing a firearm after a prior felony conviction and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime on that date.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of at least 25 years and up to life in prison and a fine of up to $2,500,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives conducted the investigation leading to the return of the Indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The indictment charges Randale Chapman with:
- possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, and methylenedioxyamphetamine on April 30, 2020
- possessing a firearm after a prior felony conviction and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime on April 30, 2020
The potential sentence for these crimes is at least 25 years and up to life in prison, with a fine of up to $2,500,000.
