Randy Oliver, Cocaine Distribution, Tennessee 2024

Randy Oliver, 44, of Memphis has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for possessing cocaine with an intent to distribute. This sentence comes after Oliver pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a controlled substance with an intent to distribute in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1).

According to information presented in court, Oliver sold cocaine to an undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on June 1, 2023, and a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl to the undercover agent on July 6, 2023. He then possessed 53 grams of cocaine when he was arrested on July 20, 2023 during another attempted drug transaction.

Oliver has a lengthy criminal history, including 11 convictions for drug and or firearms-related offenses. One of his federal convictions was for distribution of heroin in 2010. This history classified him as a career offender, contributing to the significant sentence he received.

On May 6, 2025, Oliver entered a plea of guilty to the two counts of possessing a controlled substance with an intent to distribute it in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) before District Judge John T. Fowlkes, Jr. Following this plea, on September 9, 2025, Judge Fowlkes sentenced Oliver to 151 months’ imprisonment with three years of supervised release to follow.

The investigation into Oliver’s activities was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Wendy Cornejo, William Bateman, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Raven Icaza prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.

This sentence serves as a significant blow to drug distribution efforts in the Memphis area and underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting drug trafficking. The public can stay informed about such cases and the work of the U.S. Attorney’s Office by following their social media channels or contacting the Media Relations Team at USATNW.Media@usdoj.gov.

In the federal system, there is no parole, meaning Oliver will serve the entirety of his 151-month sentence. This outcome is a result of the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the judicial system to address and punish criminal activities effectively.
