⏱ 2 min read

Kyle Beck, a 23-year-old from Rapid City, South Dakota, attempted to sexually exploit a 15-year-old girl by messaging her on Instagram and requesting explicit photos on May 28, 2023. The incident led to a federal investigation involving the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Beck was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on July 24, 2026, after being convicted of Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Attempted Enticement of a Minor Using the Internet, and Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography.

The case against Beck was built on evidence presented during his court trial on May 12, 2026, where it was revealed that he had admitted to his conduct during an interview. The prosecution was led by Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.

Beck’s sentencing reflects the severity of his crimes and the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protecting children from sexual exploitation. He was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to begin serving his 15-year sentence, followed by five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $300 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
