Timothy Kirsch, Sex Offender Failure to Register, Nebraska 2024

A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for failing to register with the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Timothy Kirsch, 31, was convicted of Lascivious Acts with a Child in Page County, Iowa in 2002. He was later convicted in Louisiana for failing to register as a sex offender.

Kirsch reported to Iowa authorities that he would be living in Nebraska, but he resided at two separate residences in Omaha and failed to register either residence with the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry.

U.S. Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced the sentencing in a statement, saying that Kirsch’s failure to register was a serious offense that put the community at risk.

The Honorable Joseph F. Bataillon, Senior Judge, sentenced Kirsch to the 33 month term of imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system, meaning Kirsch will serve the full 33 months before being released from prison.

After his release from prison, Kirsch will begin a 10 year term of supervised release. During this time, he will be required to comply with the terms of his release, including regular check-ins with his probation officer.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
