A twisted predator with a history of violence has been hit with serious child sex crimes charges in Utah. Brennan Christopher Bennett, 41, of Salt Lake City, is accused of receiving sexually explicit images of a child, just months after agents seized multiple firearms and ammunition from his home.
According to court documents, Bennett, a convicted felon, is restricted from possessing firearms and ammunition, but investigators say he continued to collect and distribute child porn. His sick obsession was discovered during a probe that began in October 2025.
The feds say Bennett’s crimes continued through October 28, 2025, and he’s now facing a superseding indictment for receiving child pornography and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.
Bennett’s next court appearance is set for May 5, 2026, at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City.
The case is being investigated by the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Carlos A. Esqueda will prosecute the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sex crimes.
