A massive fentanyl pill haul has landed two Mexican nationals in the crosshairs of federal prosecutors in Utah. Eder Montoya-Rosales, aka Jesus Tadeo Gonzalez Estrada, and Nazario De Jesus Del Campo Perez were charged with fentanyl trafficking after agents seized nearly 100,000 fentanyl pills in a Homeland Security Task Force operation.
According to court documents, the investigation began in February 2026 and led agents to multiple search warrants on residences and vehicles believed to be used by the defendants. On April 8, 2026, agents executed the warrants and found 98,800 fentanyl pills, along with heroin and methamphetamine, at Perez’s residence.
The fentanyl evidence, approximately 97,000 pills, was found in a suspected drug ledger and in a search of Perez’s residence. Montoya-Rosales’s vehicle was also searched, yielding 1,800 fentanyl pills, along with heroin and methamphetamine.
Both defendants have a history of removing themselves from the United States – Montoya-Rosales on October 1, 2024, and Perez on multiple occasions.
