An Alaskan apartment in Wasilla was ground zero for a brazen fentanyl trafficking operation, run by California’s Tyrone Hampton, who’s been sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
Hampton, 44, orchestrated the smuggling of heroin and fentanyl from California, using a network of gang members and associates to sell the deadly pills in Alaska. His main supplier, fellow gang member Kevyn Watson, was serving a 40-year prison sentence in Oklahoma, but still managed to coordinate shipments through multiple contraband cellphones.
Hampton’s operation was set in motion in Spring 2022, when he brought his pregnant wife and co-defendant Stephanie Blanchard, along with two other associates, to Alaska. The group used a Wasilla apartment as a hub for their illicit activities, with Hampton directing his accomplices to transport large quantities of fentanyl and heroin.
On April 25, 2022, Hampton’s cousin and co-defendant Charles Holyfield mailed over 2,500 fentanyl pills to the Wasilla apartment, hidden inside two pillows packaged in a box. Hampton and his crew were caught in the act, and now he’ll spend 15 years in prison for his role in the fentanyl trafficking operation.
