A former Fairbanks teacher is behind bars, accused of coercing a minor into producing explicit videos and possessing child pornography. Skyler Evans, 34, allegedly exploited the child starting from an unknown date and continuing until August 25, 2023. He also possessed and attempted to possess the disturbing content until March 25, 2025.
FBI agents, working with the Fairbanks Police Department, arrested Evans yesterday. He’s charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography, carrying a potential 15-30 year prison sentence.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Vosacek will prosecute the case, while U.S. Attorney Michael J. Heyman and Special Agent in Charge Matthew Schlegel announced the arrest.
Evans is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, 2026, before a U.S. Magistrate Judge. The full extent of his crimes remains to be uncovered as the investigation unfolds.
