Child Pornography Ring in Texas Exposed

A 41-year-old man from Mercedes, Texas, has been handed a harsh sentence for his involvement in a child pornography ring.

Armando Jose Flores Jr. was found guilty of receipt of child pornography on July 10, 2024, and was subsequently sentenced to 121 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton.

The charges against Flores stem from an investigation that was initiated after law enforcement identified a computer making videos of child sex abuse material available for download through a peer-to-peer file-sharing program on January 9, 2024.

Further investigation led authorities to Flores’ residence, where they executed a federal search warrant and seized four electronic devices containing a total of 90 GB of child sex abuse material.

Flores admitted to using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program to download and receive the material, which included over 4,500 images and videos containing bondage, bestiality, and infants/toddlers.

As part of his sentence, Flores will also serve five years on supervised release, during which time he will be required to comply with numerous restrictions designed to prevent him from accessing children and the internet.

Flores will also be ordered to register as a sex offender and will remain in custody until he is transferred to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.

The FBI conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexa D. Parcell is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Flores’ sentence serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences that those who engage in child pornography face.
