Raul Carbajal, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Florida 2023

A notorious methamphetamine trafficker from Plant City, Florida, has been sentenced to nearly two decades in federal prison, bringing justice to the Tampa Bay community.

Raul Carbajal, 34, was handed down a 17-year and 6-month sentence by U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation.

Carbajal, who has a history of federal convictions, organized and participated in multiple narcotics deals in the Plant City area, including the sale of three separate kilograms of methamphetamine, according to court documents.

The investigation into Carbajal’s operation was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Plant City Police Department, with assistance from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).

OCDETF is a multi-agency task force that targets high-level criminal organizations and uses intelligence-driven strategies to dismantle their operations.

Carbajal’s co-conspirators, Uriel Rosales Carvajal and Ricardo Heras, were previously sentenced to 7 years and 3 months and 3 years in prison, respectively.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Kenneth, who worked tirelessly to bring Carbajal to justice.

With this sentence, Carbajal will be held accountable for his role in perpetuating the opioid crisis and the devastating impact it has on families and communities.

The sentencing is a significant victory for law enforcement and a testament to the importance of collaboration in combating organized crime.
