Ray Chrostowski, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, New York 2022

Ray Chrostowski, a 27-year-old man from Cheektowaga, NY, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a recent court filing.

The charges against Chrostowski, which carry a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, stem from a search warrant executed at his Bright Street residence on September 14, 2021, where investigators seized an assault rifle, a semiautomatic pistol, two sets of body armor, and various rounds of assorted ammunition.

Chrostowski was previously convicted of breaking into and larceny from interstate carrier facilities in August 2021 and was sentenced to serve 18 months in prison by Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. He was expected to self-surrender to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons on September 28, 2021.

The investigation into Chrostowski’s firearms possession was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Stephen Belongia, the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia, and the Cheektowaga Police Department, under the direction of Chief Brian Gould.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Higgins is handling the case, which is set to be sentenced on July 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Sinatra.

Chrostowski’s guilty plea is a significant development in the case, and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of strict gun laws and the consequences of violating them.
