Razeek Carwheel, 39, Charged with Possession of a Firearm as a Felon

HARRISBURG – A Philadelphia man is facing serious charges after being accused of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to the indictment, Razeek Carwheel, 39, of Philadelphia, was in possession of a Smith and Wesson, .45 caliber handgun, and 20 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition on November 22, 2020, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

As a previously convicted felon, Carwheel is prohibited from possessing firearms. The investigation was conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott R. Ford is prosecuting the case.

The indictment alleges that Carwheel’s actions were a serious violation of federal law, and he now faces a maximum penalty of up to life in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.

Carwheel is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of firearm possession by convicted felons and the importance of strict law enforcement in preventing gun violence.
