Red Lake Home Invasion Robbery Sends Four to Prison

A brazen home invasion robbery on the Red Lake Indian Reservation left a family shaken and a community outraged. But thanks to a joint investigation by the Red Lake Tribal Police and the FBI, four defendants are now behind bars, facing significant prison time.

The crime took place on October 1, 2019, when Alexander Keith Blue, 30, Dustin Lee Jourdain, 32, Shaleigha Kate Strong, 22, and Delores Silverrain Robinson, 29, targeted a residence on the Red Lake Reservation. Blue, Jourdain, and Strong forced open the front door using a hammer or pry tool, stealing a .22 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, an Xbox gaming system, and a container of change. A minor was present in the house at the time of the robbery.

Jourdain later sold the stolen firearms, one of which was recovered by law enforcement during an unrelated narcotics operation in Bemidji, Minnesota. The brazen nature of the crime and the sale of stolen firearms are just two reasons why the community is breathing a sigh of relief that justice has been served.

Blue, Jourdain, and Strong each pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting robbery, receiving sentences of 66 months, 27 months, and 24 months in prison, respectively. Robinson, who pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting first-degree burglary, received a sentence of six months in prison. As part of their sentence, all four defendants received three years of supervised release and were ordered to pay $1,150 in restitution to the victims.

The sentences were handed down by U.S. District Judge Eric C. Tostrud, following an investigation by the Red Lake Tribal Police and the FBI Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander D. Chiquoine.

The Red Lake home invasion robbery is a stark reminder of the dangers of crime and the importance of community policing. The bravery and dedication of law enforcement officers who worked tirelessly to bring these defendants to justice should be commended. We hope that this case will serve as a deterrent to others who would consider committing such heinous crimes.

With the defendants behind bars, the community can finally begin to heal. But we must remain vigilant, working together to prevent such crimes from happening in the first place.
