Orlando, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg has announced that Reginald Dugger Jr., a 42-year-old Orlando resident, has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison, and a sentencing date remains undetermined.
Dugger’s plea agreement reveals that on February 29, 2024, agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed a federal search warrant at Dugger’s residence. During the operation, law enforcement discovered a currency counter, drugs, and two loaded firearms in plain sight and readily accessible to Dugger. At the time of the offense, Dugger had been previously convicted of several felony offenses, making him legally prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.
This case was thoroughly investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman. It is an integral part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a collaborative initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in our communities.
Project Safe Neighborhoods, launched on May 26, 2021, strengthens the PSN strategy with a focus on fostering trust in communities, supporting prevention efforts, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes. The program is designed to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.
In this case, Dugger’s actions are a stark reminder of the dangerous consequences faced by those who flout federal gun laws despite previous convictions. As law enforcement agencies continue their relentless pursuit of justice, they remain steadfast in their commitment to keeping our streets safe.
