Jordan E. Brodie, Child Porn Possession, New York 2024

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Jordan E. Brodie, 37, of LeRoy, New York, is staring down a lengthy federal prison sentence after admitting to possessing child pornography – while already a convicted sex offender. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced Brodie’s guilty plea today before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. This isn’t a first-time offense; it’s a sickening pattern of predation.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi, the case unfolded in May 2023 when Brodie, actively supervised by the Genesee County Probation Department following a previous conviction, dove headfirst into a depraved online world. He engaged in a chat application where users brazenly traded images of child pornography. Brodie didn’t just receive these images; he actively participated, uploading at least one to another platform. That upload triggered an alert, landing on the radar of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

The New York State Police moved quickly. Their investigation pinpointed the upload’s origin: Brodie’s home in LeRoy. A search warrant turned up a digital trove of horror. Investigators seized Brodie’s phone and the social media account used to disseminate the images. The contents were as vile as expected – images depicting children under the age of 12, some showing horrific acts of violence. This wasn’t just about possession; it was about contributing to the exploitation and abuse of vulnerable children.

This isn’t Brodie’s first dance with the law on these charges. He was previously convicted of a child pornography offense in May 2021, also in Genesee County, and was under supervision at the time of this latest transgression. The system failed to keep this predator contained, and he exploited that failure to further victimize innocent children. The fact that he re-offended while under supervision speaks volumes about the depth of his depravity.

The investigation was a collaborative effort, involving the New York State Police, led by Major Miklos Szoczei II, the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, under Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, and the dedicated professionals at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They deserve credit for dismantling this piece of the digital underworld and bringing Brodie to justice. But the fight against child exploitation is far from over.

Brodie faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, with a potential maximum sentence of 20 years, and a hefty $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for October 21, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. before Judge Siragusa. Grimy Times will be there to report the final outcome. This case serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive threat of online child exploitation and the urgent need for continued vigilance.
