Edwin Reyes-Parra, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Distribution, Idaho 2023

BOISE, IDAHO – Edwin Reyes-Parra, a 22-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl while in possession of a firearm. The sentence was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott.

Reyes-Parra was apprehended between June and October 2024 after distributing over 4 pounds of meth and smaller amounts of the synthetic opioids into the community. In December, law enforcement discovered 75.5 grams of fentanyl, a firearm, and $2,000 in cash at his residence.

Prior to the warrant execution, Reyes-Parra attempted to dispose of drugs down the toilet. After completing his sentence, he will be deported back to Mexico due to his illegal status in the United States.

Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott praised the DEA, Nampa and Boise police departments, High Desert Drug Task Force, Oregon State Police, and Payette County Narcotics Task Force for their roles in bringing Reyes-Parra to justice. Assistant U.S. Attorneys David Morse and Kane Venecia prosecuted the case.

This case was a collaborative effort supported by the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, funds from the Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program, and coordinated by the ONDCP. The High Desert Drug Task Force utilizes an intelligence-driven approach to dismantle drug trafficking organizations.

This operation is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. For more information on PSN, visit Justice.gov/PSN.
