Ricardo Bratini-Perez, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Distribution, Massachusetts 2024

Ricardo Bratini-Perez, a 29-year-old Lynn man, has pleaded guilty to multiple drug offenses in a Massachusetts court. The charges relate to an ongoing investigation of fentanyl distribution on the North Shore.

According to the indictment, Bratini-Perez, also known as "Rico," and "Ricofromthesin," sold fentanyl and methamphetamine to an undercover officer on three occasions in March and April 2024. The sales were part of a larger investigation into fentanyl distribution in the area.

On April 8, 2024, Bratini-Perez was arrested following a fourth sale to the undercover officer. A search warrant was executed at his residence, resulting in the recovery of over 5,000 grams of counterfeit pills containing fentanyl.

The charges against Bratini-Perez include four counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, fentanyl analog, and methamphetamine, and one count of possession with intent to distribute 400 grams and more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl.

As a result of his guilty plea, Bratini-Perez faces a sentence of at least 10 years and up to life in prison, five years and up to life of supervised release, and a fine of up to $10,000,000. Sentencing is scheduled for March 17, 2025.

Bratini-Perez was on probation at the time of the offenses, having been released from state custody on armed robbery and firearm charges. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Lynn Police Department, with valuable assistance provided by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Philip A. Mallard is prosecuting the case, which highlights the ongoing threat of fentanyl distribution in the region and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat it.
