A former Mt. Pleasant man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a federal crime.
Ricardo Macias Saucedo, age 29, was sentenced by United States Chief District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to prison in the amount of time already served on the charge of unlawful re-entry into the United States, announced United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum.
On May 9, 2018, ICE agents encountered Macias Saucedo while executing a federal search warrant in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Macias Saucedo was administratively questioned by ICE agents, and it was determined that he was not authorized to enter, live, or work in the United States.
Agents further determined that on January 23, 2008, immigration officials had previously removed Macias Saucedo from the United States. Subsequent to the 2008 removal, Macias Saucedo had not applied for, or received permission, to re-enter the United States.
Macias Saucedo pleaded guilty on November 8, 2018, to the crime of unlawful re-entry. The United States Attorney’s Office-Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
The matter was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security.
Macias Saucedo will soon be released to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to the length of time that he has already been incarcerated in this case.
