Ricardo Mejia, 25, Pleads Guilty to Manchester Bank Robbery
In a shocking turn of events, Ricardo Mejia, a 25-year-old Manchester resident, has pleaded guilty to robbing a Manchester branch of the Northway Savings Bank. The brazen heist took place on September 19, 2015, leaving the community shaken.
According to court documents, Mejia entered the bank at 29 Cilley Road, Manchester, N.H., wearing a dreadlock-style wig. Approaching the teller counter, Mejia allegedly instructed the teller to ‘[G]ive me all 100’s, 50’s, 20’s. I have a gun. Don’t give me any tainted money or I’ll come back and shoot you.’
Despite Mejia not displaying a gun, the teller handed over cash in the requested denominations, and Mejia fled with the loot. The Manchester Police Department, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, launched an investigation into the crime.
Ricardo Mejia will be sentenced on October 13, 2016, after a presentence investigation report has been prepared by the United States Probation & Pretrial Services Office. Mejia has been in custody since his arrest on related state charges and will remain in custody pending sentencing.
Assistant United States Attorney Bill Morse is prosecuting the case. The plea deal marks a significant development in the investigation, bringing a sense of closure to the community.
