CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A disturbing case of a convicted felon in possession of a firearm has come to light in West Virginia. Richard Daniels Jr., 39, of Charleston, pleaded guilty today to a federal gun crime.

According to statements made in court, Daniels possessed a Springfield, Model XD 9mm handgun on December 12, 2020 in Charleston. Daniels admitted that he knew he was prohibited from possessing the gun because of his 2003 felony conviction for third-degree sexual assault in Rock County, Wisconsin.
