Felon in Possession of a Firearm Charge in Oklahoma
Muskogee, OK – Ricky Alan McFarland, a 32-year-old resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a serious federal crime. On August 14, 2023, law enforcement officers executed an outstanding state arrest warrant for McFarland and found him in possession of a semi-automatic pistol, which he knew he was prohibited from possessing due to his 2014 conviction for Rape by Instrumentation.
The charges against McFarland arose from an investigation by the United States Marshal Service, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Muskogee Police Department. McFarland’s conviction for Rape by Instrumentation in 2014 made him ineligible to possess a firearm.
Assistant United States Attorneys Jessie Heidlage and Kyra Jenner represented the United States in this case. The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted McFarland’s guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
