Ricky McDonald Pleads Guilty to Identity Theft and Fraud in St. Louis, MO
Ricky McDonald, a 36-year-old man from West Fort, Arkansas, has admitted to possessing personal identifiers for more than 700 individuals and over 70 counterfeit bank cards, credit cards, and personal checks.
McDonald and his co-defendant, Brittany Cook, were stopped by the St. Louis County Police on July 18, 2018, for a traffic violation. A search of their car revealed a large cache of personal identification information, including victims’ home addresses and social security numbers, as well as counterfeit cards and equipment used for economic crimes.
McDonald pleaded guilty to access device fraud in U.S. District Court before Judge John A. Ross. His sentencing is set for February 12, 2019. He remains in federal custody pending sentencing.
McDonald faces up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of not more than $250,000. Restitution to any victims of his conduct is also mandatory.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, with Assistant United States Attorney Gwen Carroll handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Brittany Cook, McDonald’s co-defendant, pleaded guilty to the same charge in September and awaits sentencing in December.
