Ricky T. Olson Sentenced to 13 Years for Soliciting Child Pornography
A Gays Mills, Wisconsin man has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for soliciting child pornography. Ricky T. Olson, 60, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley in Madison, Wisconsin.
According to court documents, in February 2015, Olson used a false name to communicate with a child on Snapchat and persuaded the child to send him images and videos of the child engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He also admitted to distributing the images and video to another Snapchat user and sending the child sexually explicit images of himself.
Olson pleaded guilty to the charge on January 7, 2019. In sentencing him, Judge Conley noted Olson’s lengthy and extensive criminal history, the fact that he created a false persona to commit the crime, and that Olson not only received images, but also redistributed them.
The charge against Ricky T. Olson was the result of an investigation conducted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Laura Przybylinski Finn, Diane Schlipper, and Julie Pfluger.
Olson’s sentence is a result of his actions, which demonstrate a clear disregard for the law and the safety of children. The sentence sends a strong message that soliciting and distributing child pornography will not be tolerated in our society.
