MOBILE, AL – A Honduran national was sentenced to four months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after previously being deported. Rigoberto Rubi-Guevara, 38, is now facing the consequences of his actions, a stark reminder of the severe penalties for those who dare to attempt to reenter our country illegally.
According to court documents, Rubi-Guevara was an occupant of a vehicle stopped by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on September 12, 2025, for a traffic violation. Mobile County deputies suspected that Rubi-Guevara was not a United States citizen, so they contacted law enforcement personnel with U.S. Border Patrol. A Border Patrol agent was able to determine that Rubi-Guevara had previously been removed from the United States in 2011.
The case against Rubi-Guevara is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies working together to combat the scourge of illegal immigration. The Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department all played crucial roles in bringing this individual to justice.
At sentencing, Chief U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Beaverstock imposed a time-served sentence of incarceration and a one-year term of supervised release upon his future release. Upon his release from prison, Rubi-Guevara is to be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings. Rubi-Guevara was also ordered to pay $100 in special assessments.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama made the announcement, highlighting the importance of this case in the ongoing fight against illegal immigration. “The Southern District of Alabama remains committed to enforcing our nation’s immigration laws and protecting our communities from the threats posed by illegal immigration,” said Costello.
Rubi-Guevara’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would attempt to reenter the United States after being deported: the consequences are severe, and the penalties are real. This case is a stark reminder of the importance of securing our borders and upholding the rule of law.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the federal government to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
