Robert Boehme, Child Exploitation, Florida 2020

Tampa, Florida – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Robert Boehme, a 64-year-old man from Nokomis, Florida, was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in federal prison for receiving and possessing materials depicting the sexual exploitation of children.

On December 7, 2020, Boehme pleaded guilty to the charges. This guilty plea led to a significant sentence, as U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber ordered Boehme to serve a 10-year term of supervised release and to register as a sex offender.

According to court documents, FBI agents detected several online requests to download child exploitation material over the internet and traced these requests to Boehme’s residence. When agents executed a federal search warrant at Boehme’s home, they caught Boehme as he was actively downloading child exploitation material over the internet.

A forensic examination of Boehme’s computer revealed that he had amassed a collection of tens of thousands of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Colin McDonell and Frank Murray.

This sentence is part of a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, known as Project Safe Childhood. Launched in May 2006, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
