A former cruise ship crewmember has been given a hefty prison sentence for transporting heinous child abuse material into the United States.
Robert Jonathan De Oliveira Ricci, 36, of Brazil, was sentenced to seven years and three months in federal prison for his crimes.
Ricci, a former crewmember on a cruise ship, pleaded guilty to the charges on May 16, 2025. He used a smartphone to commit the offenses, which he will now forfeit.
U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing, stating that Ricci will also have to register as a sex offender.
The child abuse material was transported into the country by Ricci, who will now face the consequences of his actions.
Ricci’s crimes are a stark reminder of the ongoing problem of child exploitation and abuse, and the need for continued vigilance in protecting our nation’s children.
