Local Man Indicted on Multiple Drug and Firearms Charges

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Robert Edward Maxwell, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, was indicted today on multiple drug and firearms charges, United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced.

Maxwell, 43, was indicted today on one count of ‘Distribution of Methamphetamine,’ one count of ‘Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl,’ one count of ‘Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine,’ and one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.’

The charges stem from an investigation into Maxwell’s distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl in Harrison County in November 2021.

Maxwell is also accused of possessing a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, despite being prohibited from having firearms due to a prior conviction.

Maxwell faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1 million for each of the drug charges, as well as up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the firearms charge.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
