RALEIGH MAN SENTENCED TO 9 YEARS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSING FIREARM AS FELON

In a dramatic turn of events, Robert Terrance Green III, a 43-year-old Raleigh resident, has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon. The crime, which occurred on March 21, 2023, left a victim with two gunshot wounds to the left leg.

Green’s downfall began when he drove his vehicle through the entrance of an apartment complex, where he engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim. In a shocking display of violence, Green shot numerous rounds of ammunition at the victim, striking them twice. He then fled the scene, leaving the victim to seek medical attention at WakeMed Hospital.

On March 27, 2023, Raleigh Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Green, which led to the recovery of the firearm used in the shooting. In a subsequent interview, Green admitted to shooting the victim.

Green’s history of felony offenses, including assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon or instrument, unlawful possession of a handgun, and threats of violence, played a significant role in the severity of his sentence.

According to Michael F. Easley, Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, ‘Robert Terrance Green III is a dangerous felon who has demonstrated a reckless disregard for the lives and property of others. I am grateful that justice has been served to prevent him from further harming our community.’

Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson echoed this sentiment, stating ‘The Raleigh Police Department takes pride in working alongside our federal, state, and local partners to investigate and prosecute individuals who threaten our community.’
