Robert V. Gentile, Firearm Offenses, Connecticut 2023

ROBERT V. GENTILE, an 81-year-old man from Manchester, Connecticut, has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for firearm offenses and violating the conditions of his supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham.

GENTILE was arrested after a federal investigation revealed that he was involved in the illegal distribution of prescription narcotics on February 10, 2012. A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of 200 Percocet tablets packaged for distribution, multiple firearms, ammunition, and approximately $22,000 in cash.

On March 2, 2015, while on supervised release, GENTILE sold a .38 Colt Cobra revolver to an individual he knew to be a convicted felon. He was arrested on April 17, 2015 and ordered detained.

GENTILE was initially sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for federal drug and firearm offenses on May 9, 2013. However, he violated the conditions of his supervised release, leading to additional charges.

On April 6, 2017, GENTILE pleaded guilty to possession of ammunition by a previously convicted felon, possession of firearms by a previously convicted felon, and possession of an unregistered silencer.

Judge Robert N. Chatigny ordered GENTILE to serve the first six months of his supervised release in home confinement, followed by 48 months of imprisonment. GENTILE has been detained since his arrest on April 17, 2015.

The matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by U.S. Attorney John H. Durham.
