ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a grim turn of events for the streets of Rochester, Yusef Blocker, aged 35, has been forced to face the music after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
The plea comes before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa, where Blocker now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, accompanied by a fine that could reach $1 million.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Richard A. Resnick and Charles E. Moynihan revealed the unsettling details of Blocker’s past: convicted of drug trafficking offenses in 2005 within the Western District of New York, this is not his first brush with the law.
A routine search by members of the United States Probation and Pre-Trial Services Office turned grim on March 21, 2016. The officers found an arsenal of drug paraphernalia, cash, and a substantial quantity of crack cocaine in Blocker’s apartment at 505 University Avenue.
Blocker’s guilty plea is the culmination of a thorough investigation led by the United States Probation and Pre-Trial Services Office under Chief Probation Officer Anthony SanGiacomo and the Drug Enforcement Administration, directed by Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt.
For Blocker, the next chapter will be decided on August 8, 2017, at 10:15 a.m., where Judge Siragusa will determine his fate.
