Resisting the Law: Rochester Man Faces Prison Time

Christopher Ludwig, a 31-year-old from Rochester, New York, has pleaded guilty to resisting and impeding officers, a federal offense that carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison, a fine of $100,000, or both.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, on April 26, 2012, Ludwig made a threatening remark concerning President Barack Obama to the Monroe County Board of Elections. This led to a visit from Special Agents with the United States Secret Service on May 3, 2012, to Ludwig’s residence.

When the agents attempted to place Ludwig under arrest, he forcibly resisted and impeded their efforts. This act of defiance has now led to a guilty plea in federal court.

The investigation, led by the United States Secret Service under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Tracy Gast, has resulted in Ludwig’s plea. Sentencing is scheduled for September 5, 2014, at 9:15 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.

Ludwig’s actions have sparked concern about the safety and security of public officials. The Secret Service plays a crucial role in protecting those in high-risk positions, and Ludwig’s actions demonstrate a disregard for the law and the agents who work tirelessly to keep us safe.

The guilty plea serves as a reminder that resisting the law will not be tolerated. Ludwig’s case will now move forward to sentencing, where he will face the consequences of his actions.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee is handling the case, and U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. has expressed his commitment to upholding the law and protecting the public from those who seek to harm it.
