A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to selling methamphetamine, putting him at risk for up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
Scott Schafer, 39, was arrested in March 2018 after police found him in a bathroom with multiple bags of methamphetamine, according to court documents.
Officers initially stopped Schafer for an illegally parked vehicle on Monroe Avenue, but he retreated into the bathroom when approached. Police searched Schafer and found methamphetamine on his person, as well as more in the garbage can in the bathroom.
Just a month later, Schafer was arrested again, this time at a gas station on South Clinton Avenue. Police found a small clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine in the car Schafer was riding in.
The investigation involved the Rochester Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from Chief Mark Simmons and Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 10, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. before Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles E. Moynihan is handling the prosecution of the case.
