Kelvin Hunt, Rape, New York 2023

Rochester, N.Y. – In a chilling turn of justice, Kelvin Hunt, 48, has been locked away for more than 38 years following his conviction for raping a 14-year-old girl and producing child pornography. Hunt, a repeat sex offender with a history of sexual abuse and firearms possession, entered the girl’s home on February 2, 2024, where he subjected her to both rape and exploitation. The harrowing details of the crime were announced by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Hunt, who had previously served time for Sexual Abuse in the First Degree in Monroe County Court, forced himself upon the minor victim and took explicit photographs with her phone. He then forcibly raped her again at a different location. The next day, February 4, 2024, Hunt was apprehended by law enforcement, resulting in the seizure of a loaded semi-automatic handgun and approximately 71 grams of heroin from his hotel room.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani described the investigation, which was led by the Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, and United States Marshals Service. The sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa reflects the gravity of Hunt’s actions.

“Kelvin Hunt is a predator who has shown no remorse for his repeated offenses against children,” said Testani. “The sentence imposed today serves as a stark reminder that violent crimes against minors will be met with severe consequences.”

Hunt’s sentencing is a testament to the collaborative efforts of local and federal law enforcement agencies in combating sex crimes and child exploitation. The case has sent shockwaves through Rochester, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by repeat predators like Hunt.
