Rocky Mount Drug Kingpins Sentenced for Fentanyl and Heroin Ring

RALEIGH, N.C. – Two Rocky Mount men were sentenced to substantial prison terms for their roles in a violent drug trafficking organization with connections to the United Blood Nation gang. Tyrone Foreman, also known as Tye Nitty, is currently awaiting sentencing for his involvement in obtaining kilograms of heroin and fentanyl from various sources.

Benjamine Moss, Jr., 31, was sentenced to 246 months in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Dentrez Randell Thomas, 28, received a sentence of 151 months for the same charges.

U.S. Attorney Michael Easley criticized the men’s actions, stating, ‘These individuals peddled poison to our communities. The streets are much safer now that this source of illegal drugs has been removed.’

The investigation into the Rocky Mount-based Blood gang led by Foreman revealed Moss and Thomas were primary distributors within Nash and Edgecombe County, carrying firearms during drug sales and threatening lower-level distributors at gunpoint to secure continued sales. The operation culminated in a December 2020 traffic stop that netted over 3,500 dosage units of heroin/fentanyl mixture.

ATF Special Agent in Charge Bennie Mims emphasized the importance of stopping drug flows into communities, saying, ‘To have these gang members in custody is a huge win for public safety.’

Rocky Mount Police Chief Robert Hassell and Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone commended law enforcement agencies for their collaboration in reducing crime and violence. Edgecombe County Sheriff Cleveland Atkinson echoed the sentiment of unity among agencies.
