Bank Robbery Lands Ogle County Man Behind Bars
A brazen bank robbery in Rochelle, Illinois, has earned an Ogle County man a nearly four-year sentence in federal prison.
Rodney Beese, 64, of Rochelle, Illinois, pleaded guilty to robbing the Central Bank Illinois located at 340 May Mart Drive on July 6, 2021.
According to court documents, Beese entered the bank and approached the teller counter, presenting a note demanding $20’s, $50’s, and $100’s from the drawer.
The teller handed over $100 in cash, which Beese then took and left the bank.
U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston imposed a 46-month prison sentence after a hearing in federal court in Rockford.
The sentencing was announced by John R. Lausch, Jr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; and Emmerson Buie, Jr., Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI.
The government was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert S. Ladd.
Beese’s prison sentence is a result of his admission to committing the crime, and he will serve nearly four years for his actions.
