Two men from Arizona have been sentenced to federal prison for their role in transporting five pounds of heroin to Nampa, Idaho.
Rodrigo Ramirez, 22, and Irwin Camacho, 19, both of Phoenix, Arizona, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin.
Ramirez was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment to be followed by five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to forfeit $75,000 in cash proceeds.
Camacho, on the other hand, was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment, pay a $4,000 fine, and serve five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to forfeit $75,000 in cash proceeds.
The two men were arrested in Nampa after meeting with an undercover officer to conduct the sale of heroin. The heroin was found in a hidden compartment in the vehicle driven by Camacho and a juvenile male from Phoenix.
Ramirez had previously been convicted of possession of heroin for sale in Riverside, California. He had flown to Boise from Phoenix on June 16, 2016, to meet with the undercover officer.
The cases are the result of a joint investigation by the Nampa Police Department Narcotics Unit and the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The OCDETF is a federal multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional task force that supplies supplemental federal funding to federal and state agencies involved in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of major drug trafficking organizations.
Both Ramirez and Camacho will serve their prison time and then be supervised for five years. They were also ordered to forfeit $75,000 in cash proceeds.
